A self-taught artist and photographer, Tom is a long time resident of Wisconsin. His interests include travel with a strong emphasis on birding. He and his wife, Carol, have traveled extensively in the U.S. and Canada but mainly enjoy south of the border adventures in Mexico, and Central and South America, either on their own or with a small group of birding friends.

Tom is currently employed at Lawrence University, Appleton, as the Director of Media Services. He is the list manager/owner of the Wisconsin Birding Network and is involved in various community projects in the Appleton area. He is a founding member of the Vietnam Dog Handler Association and was a Scout Dog handler in Vietnam in 1968.

Tom has two grown children (WI), two grown step-children (CO & WI), a son-in-law, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren (WI & CO). Oh, and he has a pretty nifty younger sister and brother-in-law with gifted grown children. All are exceptional human beings and he and Carol love them dearly.

Tom’s philosophy includes learning to do three things:

“First, learn how to use a camera in order to see the world around you in a different perspective. Two, learn a second language to better understand and appreciate other cultures. And three, learn to drive using a standard transmission because you never know when it will come in handy.”
