Northern Ecuador

January 21 - February 2, 2008

We, along with a group of eight adventuresome Wisconsin birders spent 14 days birding Northern Ecuador. Despite heavy rains, mudslides, and cloud-obscured trails we managed to see and/or hear over 509 species of birds covering 56 bird families – about a third of the species available in mainland Ecuador. Here is our day-by-day accounting of our exploits. Would we do it again? We’re already planning a return trip to do southern Ecuador in 2010!
